On-going consultation
DESCRIPTION
We were retained in October of 2019 to enter into a long term consulting relationship with Pine Hills Country Club, formerly known as Sheboygan Country Club (1905). The current course was established in 1928, designed by little-known golf architect, Harry Smead. Pine Hills stands as one of the finest and most under-recognized courses in the Midwest, but those in Wisconsin know it well and revere its fine layout and playfully contoured greens and fairways. The fact that the course is a bit of a "best kept secret" is part of its charm. However, there is a sense that may change a little as we continue to make more precise improvements. Their Club's story and reputation are very much on the rise.
Sheboygan County has been recognized as the 7th best golf destination in the world according to Golf Digest magazine, with Pine Hills joining the likes of Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits among other notable neighbors. Pine Hills draws some comparison to Langford & Moreau's Lawsonia Links in nearby Green Lake, with its wild landforms and plateau greens.
Our initial improvement efforts included the reclamation of the "Cape" finishing hole which was completed in 2020. We look forward to working closely with the club to help guide its on-going evolution by improving every facet of its playing presentation and experience.
